I've worked with building and fire codes for my entire professional career. If you are wondering if a certain code section applies to you or can't find a specific setback requirement for your property, I can help! 

I want to be an advocate for small businesses and homeowners going through the permit process because it can be very confusing. Tacoma uses a program called Accela for their permitting and I have years of experience using it. As a Councilmember, I would ask for back end access to the system so I can help you look up where your permit is at in the process.

The City's turnaround time for permits is not great. I want to find out why that is, and implement new processes to get tenant improvement permits approved faster. Every day that a permit is spent in limbo, is a day that a small business owner is paying rent & other expenses without being able to bring in income. The City can do better, and I will make sure it happens.
