Why I'm Running

I grew up feeling extremely apathetic toward all aspects of government. My mom was a single parent who could barely keep a roof over our heads. I didn't think twice about who our local officials were; I was hungry no matter who was in charge. I didn't vote for the first time until I was 21 when I voted against Prop 8 in California, which would have banned same-sex marriage. That's when I started to pay more attention to local elections and realized I wanted to get involved one day.

I want to be a Councilmember who truly represents the City. I will reply to every email, phone call, and text. My votes and actions on Council will reflect that of the people, even if I personally disagree. Seeing so many Charter Amendments get stopped at Council last year was incredibly disheartening. I want to rebuild the lack of trust that exists, and I can do this because I don't have any hidden agendas.

I love Tacoma. I care deeply about the City and have so many ideas on how we can improve. I've been a public servant for almost 15 years now, so I have a full understanding of how a city operates and would be able to jump right into the work. I hope that reading this gives you a glimpse into the type of person I am, and I hope you will consider voting for me in August.
